One more year in the books

Yet another year since a post. Really, the information in the blog is still valid, feel free to search. I don’t have to tell you that the economy has been in the toilet over the last few years, but this year is turning out to be a very good one. I have been working the phones all year, and I have a GIANT list of questions to add to the website once I get a little time. I still am getting lots of feedback daily, so thanks to everyone that visits and finds some use for the information.

Just started working on my 18th year in the industry, hoping it continues to be a good year. Thanks guys and gals!

Wow!

A flurry of activity since I posted the BBB ratings. It appears a couple of the companies went nuts. I still stand behind the posting, as they were accurate at the time of posting. Keep in mind that BBB ratines go up and down daily, so you should always check the rating out before you make up your mind, but facts are facts: There are a lot of customers out there who are mad enough at companies to take the time and effort to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I am guessing they first tried to get the company to fix the issue, which would be the easier path. That should say something.

Warning Will Robinson!

I have been working with the Better Business Bureau website trying to dig up some dirt on a few companies. It seems that MANY people have made the mistake of buying those cheap, $1200 Solar Wave and Solar Storm tanning beds this year, and judging from their F rating from the BBB, most have regretted it. I have seen several other companies that are now getting F ratings as well, including some Wolff dealers like SunCo. I noticed they are advertising a “September $1199 special” in March, and when you click the ad, it takes you to the same bed for $2000. This might be why the BBB has complaints on them for “Bait and Switch” advertising. So those of you looking for tanning bed and tanning lamps deals, buyer beware! Be sure to check on the company’s BBB rating first because it appears that there are a lot of bad deals going on.

Yes, I am still around

I know that many of you who used to visit the site regularly are wondering where I went. Actually, I am still here, but the last year has been the most insane of my life. I’m still in the business, of course, and while the “Great Recession of 2008/2009″ has certainly had an effect, overall business has been very good. It is a changing market, to be sure, and it seems that tens of thousands of people have been buying used tanning beds from salons going out of business. I have spent a great deal of time helping customers with very, very old tanning beds, and have some new questions/answers to post on the site when time allows. Until then, the information on the website is still current, so search and find.

Yes, it has been a while…

Wow! What a fall and winter so far! With the economy in the tank for next few months, I have actually been swamped with requests from people to help then get used tanning beds operating. As such, I just haven’t had the time to add to the blog.

Several companies have failed recently, and MANY salons have gone out of business over the last year. I just pulled a report (for mailings) that showed that 40% of all stand alone tanning salons went out of biz in the last year. OUCH! Of course, this means opportunity for those who can weather the storm. At my day job, we are actually pretty slammed (which is why I have been too busy to blog) but much of that is helping with parts and lamps for used beds.

Regardless, I will try to get some new info up here soon. Until then, there is still tons of articles on here, and the data doesn’t really get old since it will always apply. Thanks for stopping by!

Hot Summer!

Quick up date to say hello to everyone. It’s been a super hot summer, and I have a couple HUNDRED emails to sift through. I expect to start publishing again very soon, and combining some emails to do so. Until then I still have email off line.
